Visual Effects

Compositor (for 3 month contract)

Toronto, Ontario

Duties and Responsibilities

  •   Take direction from Compositing Supervisor and determine the best approach to solve compositing challenges in order to develop final look
  •   Perform tasks such as matte extraction, paint fixes, clean up, rotoscoping, integration of live action and multi-pass CG elements
  •   Produce photo-realistic look that meets or exceeds industry standards

Qualifications

  •   Must have 4+ years experience compositing for live action feature film and/or television
  •   Basic knowledge of filmmaking, including: cinematography, cameras and lenses
  •   Must have thorough knowledge of NUKE software, colour theory, perspective, lighting and composition
  •   Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
  •   Good organization and communication skills
  •   A high attention to details
  •   Candidate must be able to work within a small team environment
  •   Must be a resident of Ontario

VFX Coordinator

DESCRIPTION
The VFX Coordinator works with producers and artists to ensure shots are being tracked and delivered according to established targets, milestones and deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Scheduling, prioritizing and tracking internal technical assignments and project details.
• Organize dailies, rounds and project meetings.
• Organize and setup media for cinesync / client review sessions.
• Ensure Shotgun (project management tool) statuses and task assignments are kept up to date.
• Coordinate and package shot deliveries including submission documentation.
• Ensure teams are clear on daily delivery objectives.
• Record all shot notes from clients, dailies, rounds and cinesyncs.
• Ensuring effective communication and continual team updates.
• Coordinating and monitoring multiple projects effectively.
• Ensuring project scope, status and completion information up to date (in Shotgun).
• Documenting decisions and requests, and ensuring items are tracked and managed appropriately.
• Monitoring and controlling progress, issues and preparing reports.
• Ensuring work is being approved and completed on time and to specification.
• Establishing quality control and project closure processes.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Highly organized with excellent scheduling and task management skills.
• Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to problem solve effectively in a fast paced environment.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience within the VFX or film production industry.
• Conversant with visual effects terminologies and processes.
• Ability to liaise and collaborate with clients, artists and producers.
• Established software knowledge
• Understanding of visual effects processes including asset development, layout, matte painting, animation, fx, lighting and compositing is considered an asset.
• Working experience with Shotgun (project software)
• Strong knowledge of MS Office package (including word, excel)
• Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills critical
• Candidate must be able to work within a team environment
• Candidate should be Toronto- based and legally allowed to work in Canada

CG Generalist (3 month contract)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency in Maya and Vray Rendering System
  • Diverse capabilities of the principles of 3D, such as; animation, modelling, rigging, texturing, shading, lighting, rendering, effects, scripting, tracking and compositing photo-real shader development using the latest HDRI, GI, and normal mapping techniques
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles and color theory
  • Knowledge of: ShotGun, Mari, Zbrush or Mudbox software would be beneficial

 

SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 2+ years experience in a production environment
  • Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
  •  Strong communication skills critical

Assistant VFX Editor

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Carry out I/O and other miscellaneous editorial activities assigned by VFX Editor and the production team.
  • Organize and ingest assets (Plates, QuickTimes, .edls, reference material, etc.) as they become available from clients, vendors, and outsource resources.
  • Assist in maintenance of the production database (Shotgun) and server with accurate shot counts, reference QTs, lineup sheets, set date, etc.
  • Assist in maintenance of sequence edits and update editorial timeline with VFX shots, and flag in Shotgun as required.
  • Output sequence movie files, image sequences, EDLs
  • Editorial quality control and prepare deliveries to client
  • Work with the show coordinators to set update dailies (and client sessions), as well as run/operate Hiero during the sessions.
  • Provide support to artists in finding reference material and ensuring shot counts are up to date.
  • Stock footage library and studio demo reel maintenance.

Qualifications Include

  • Experience with Hiero, Shotgun, R/V and Cinesync
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Creative Cloud Suite and basic command-line knowledge
  • Working knowledge of The Foundry’s Nuke a plus
  • Ability react and respond quickly to the needs of management and clients, meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the visual effects pipeline
  • Strong multi-tasking and task switching capabilities.  
  • Solid understanding of color space, and standard output formats.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload tasks.
  • 1-2 years experience required
  • Hours per Week: 35-40 per week (Shift is 1PM-9:00PM approx)
