CG Generalist

DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a talented CG Generalist to join our VFX department and work on 3D feature films and television series.

  • You will report directly to the VFX Supervisor and have the following main tasks:
  • Work will strongly be centered around Assets, and Look Development
  • Conduct research in accordance with current projects
  • Gather, manage and organize references used for modeling
  • Digital model creation according to the developed concept or according to the obtained references
  • Make UVs on selected objects
  • Create textures on objects
  • Create lighting for scenes
  • Prepare layers expected by the compositing team
  • Start renders and check the quality of the renders
  • Identify, analyze, solve and document problems encountered
  • Being able to work with the visual effect supervisor and the lead CG artist to determine the best possible techniques and creative approaches.
  • Deliver work within established project targets and the high quality standards of the company.
  • Organize and manage his/her work to be able to function in a VFX production pipeline and be able to receive comments and criticisms and communicate well with members of his team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have at least five (5) years of experience as CG Generalist in a VFX studio
  • Have a very good knowledge of the following software: Maya, Nuke, V-Ray, Mari, Substance Painter and
  • Photoshop
  • Self-driven
  • Great team player and be resourceful and innovative

VFX Editor

DESCRIPTION:
The VFX Editor incorporates and updates all required versions of visual effects shots into the current cuts of the VFX / live action sequences. The VFX Editor facilitates an environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences, for aesthetic and technical direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain sequence edits and inserting visual effects shots into the timeline
  • Manage and document the turnover of shots from editorial through to delivery including ingesting new media into pipeline
  • Ensure Shotgun is maintained with current shot counts, lineup and any retime instructions
  • Ensure that published shots conform to the current edit and perform basic QC checks
  • Prepare sequence edits for internal and client approvals when required
  • Create daily playlists and operate the screening room system for dailies
  • Perform shot specific colour corrections to match editorial reference when required
  • Perform shot retimes to match supplied editorial reference when required
  • Work in partnership with vfx teams and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard while maintaining schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of editing experience within the film and television industry
    An eye for detail and thorough understanding of techniques, file formats, colour-space, software and technology relating to the live action visual effects
    Excellent knowledge of Hiero, Davinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro
    Working knowledge of Nuke, Shotgun and Tweak RV is considered and asset
    Proven accuracy and organizational experience
    Ability to convert between key numbers, time-codes and frames
    Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
    Strong communication skills
    Candidate must be able to work within a team environment
    Candidate should be Toronto- based and legally allowed to work in Canada

Senior Compositor

We are looking for a talented Senior Compositor to join our team and work on feature films and television series.

Reporting directly to the Compositor Supervisor your main duties will include:

  • Working closely with Compositing Supervisor to determine best approach to solve compositing challenges and develop final look.
  • Performing tasks such as tracking, matte extraction, colour correction, paint fixes, roto and assembly of live action and 3D elements.
  • Producing a final overall look that exceeds client expectations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have at least 5+ years experience in compositing digital visual effects for feature film.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of film making, including: cinematography, lighting, camera movement, editing.
  • Must have thorough knowledge and ability to use the tools that produce Digital Composites such as NUKE, Fusion, Flame and Photoshop (Mavericks uses Nuke as it’s compositing software). 
  • Must present a show reel highlighting eye for colour, lighting, attention to detail and composition.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills are critical.
  • Candidate must be able to work within a team environment.
  • Must be Toronto-based and legally allowed to work in Canada.
