Intermediate Compositor

DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for talented Compositors to join our team and work on features films and television series.

You report directly to the Compositor supervisor and have the following main tasks:

  • Working closely with Compositing Supervisor to determine the best approach to solve compositing challenges and develop the final look.
  • Performing tasks such as tracking, matte extraction, colour correction, paint fixes, roto and assembly of live action and 3D elements.
  • Producing a final overall look that exceeds client expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least 2+ years experience in compositing digital visual effects for a feature film.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of film-making, including cinematography, lighting, camera movement, editing.
  • Must have thorough knowledge and ability to use the tools that produce Digital Composites such as NUKE, Fusion, Flame and Photoshop.
  • Must present a showreel highlighting eye for colour, lighting, attention to detail and composition.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills are critical.
  • Candidate must be able to work within a team environment.
  • Must be Toronto-based and legally allowed to work in Canada.

VFX Editor

DESCRIPTION:

The VFX Editor incorporates and updates all required versions of visual effects shots into the current cuts of the VFX / live action sequences. The VFX Editor facilitates an environment where the Visual Effects Supervisor can evaluate any version of any shot in the current sequences, for aesthetic and technical direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain sequence edits and inserting visual effects shots into the timeline
• Manage and document the turnover of shots from editorial through to delivery including ingesting new media into pipeline
• Ensure Shotgun is maintained with current shot counts, lineup and any retime instructions
• Ensure that published shots conform to the current edit and perform basic QC checks
• Prepare sequence edits for internal and client approvals when required
• Create daily playlists and operate the screening room system for dailies
• Perform shot specific colour corrections to match editorial reference when required
• Perform shot retimes to match supplied editorial reference when required
• Create rough shot mockups as proof of concept for artists and supervisors
• Work in partnership with vfx teams and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard while maintaining schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3-5 years of editing experience within the film and television industry
• An eye for detail and thorough understanding of techniques, file formats, colour-space, software and technology relating to the live action visual effects
• Expert knowledge of Final Cut Pro
• Working knowledge of Nuke, Shotgun and Tweak RV is considered and asset
• Proven accuracy and organizational experience
• Ability to convert between key numbers, time-codes and frames
• Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills pre-critical
• Candidate must be able to work within a team environment
• Must be Toronto-based and legally allowed to work in Canada

VFX Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

The VFX Coordinator works with producers and artists to ensure shots are being tracked and delivered according to established targets, milestones and deadlines. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scheduling, prioritizing and tracking internal technical assignments and project details.
  • Organize dailies, rounds and project meetings.
  • Organize and setup media for cinesync / client review sessions.
  • Ensure Shotgun (project management tool) statuses and task assignments are kept up to date.
  • Coordinate and package shot deliveries including submission documentation.
  • Ensure teams are clear on daily delivery objectives.
  • Record all shot notes from clients, dailies, rounds and cinesyncs.
  • Ensuring effective communication and continual team updates.
  • Coordinating and monitoring multiple projects effectively.
  • Ensuring project scope, status and completion information up to date (in Shotgun).
  • Documenting decisions and requests, and ensuring items are tracked and managed appropriately.
  • Monitoring and controlling progress, issues and preparing reports.
  • Ensuring work is being approved and completed on time and to specification.
  • Establishing quality control and project closure processes.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly organized with excellent scheduling and task management skills.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to problem solve effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience within the VFX or film production industry.
  • Conversant with visual effects terminologies and processes.
  • Ability to liaise and collaborate with clients, artists and producers.
  • Established software knowledge
  • Understanding of visual effects processes including asset development, layout, matte painting, animation, fx, lighting and compositing is considered an asset.
  • Working experience with Shotgun (project software)
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office package (including word, excel)
  • Must have the ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills critical
  • Candidate must be able to work within a team environment
  • Must be Toronto-based and legally allowed to work in Canada.
